Paul’s Favorite Bible Verse

“The just shall live by faith.” Habakkuk 2:4;  Romans 1:17;  Galatians 3:11;  Hebrews 10:38

The Apostle Paul’s favorite Bible verse from the Old Testament was Habakkuk 2:4.  He repeated that verse three times in his letters in Romans, Galatians, and Hebrews.    Paul felt it was vital for our Christian life to understand and appreciate this verse.  Let us look closely at the life verse of the Apostle Paul – “The just shall live by faith.”

The People of Faith:  Romans 1:17 emphasizes “The just.”  The book of Romans tells us how to be “just” or “declared righteous.”  We are made just by the work of Christ.  We are His people, the sheep of His pasture.  The blood of Christ makes us just, righteous.

The Path of Faith:  Galatians 3:11 emphasizes “shall live.”  The book of Galatians is about the Christian life.  We are saved by grace and we live by grace.  The path of salvation begins with faith, and the path of faith leads all the way into the Father’s House.

The Power of Faith:  Hebrews 10:38 emphasizes “by faith.”  The book of Hebrews is the book of faith.  Hebrews tells us of men and women who lived by faith.  Hebrews 11 is the “Heroes of Faith” Chapter.  Most of the verses in Hebrews begin with the words, “By faith.”  Faith is the power of the Christian life.

We are saved by faith.  We are made right with God by God.  We walk by faith and not by sight.  We serve by faith.  We suffer by faith.  We cross the river of death by faith.

“Abraham believed God, and it counted unto him as righteousness.” Genesis 15:6 Abraham is the father of faith.  “The just shall live by faith.”  Your Christian life will be strengthened to a heavenly measure by printing these six words from the Holy Spirit indelibly upon your heart – “The just shall live by faith.”
